Grace Davie

March 1 - 21, 2013

As part of the Distinguished Visiting Researchers Program, Grace Davie will be a visiting scholar at the University of Ottawa in March 2013. Professor Davie's interests lie in the sociology of religion, with a particular emphasis on patterns of religion in Europe. She is also interested in the new theoretical paradigms that are emerging in the field – not least the notion of ‘multiple modernities’. How are we to make sense of the growing significance of religion in the modern world with tools and concepts that have emerged (largely) from the 'exceptional' European case? Find out more about Professor Davie by consulting her website

Do not miss Professor Davie's lecture on March 7, 2013, as part of the Critical Thinkers Series, entitled: Religion and Welfare in Europe: Connections, Reflections and Extensions or her research workshop on March 15, 2013. Consult the calendar to learn more about those two events.
